The summer holidays are almost here, and there are lots of activities taking place across Kent for families to enjoy.

Whether your child enjoys history, animals, outdoor adventures, creative activities or exploring new places, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about during the break.

Many attractions, community organisations and family venues will be running special summer events throughout the holidays, helping families find activities that suit different interests, ages and needs.

Explore the outdoors at Kent Country Parks

This summer, Kent Country Parks have a range of fun, family-friendly activities across the county. Families can enjoy den building, dinosaur adventures and mini-beast hunts at Shorne Woods, take part in summer trails and scavenger hunts at Trosley, and discover nature trails and seasonal outdoor activities at Brockhill and Lullingstone Country Parks. There's plenty on offer to help children explore, learn and have fun outdoors this summer.

Summer reading challenge

As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, Kent Libraries are inviting families to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge – Read to the Beat!

Discover stories full of rhythm, music, and creativity, all for FREE at a library near you!

All primary school aged children can sign up for free and take part at any library or mobile library in Kent. To complement the Challenge, Kent Libraries will also be hosting a programme of free children’s activities to encourage families to Go All In this summer.

With lots of different ways to join the fun, flexible reading-related goals and rewards along the way, children can read to their own beat and build confidence ready for their return to school or home learning in September

Summer activities for 11-18 year olds

Kent Youth Voice is pleased to offer two engaging open access activity days for young people aged 11–18 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

These sessions will provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where participants can take part in a range of fun, accessible activities tailored to different abilities and interests. The days will focus on building confidence, encouraging social interaction, and promoting wellbeing.

The activities have been co-produced with members of Kent Youth Voice, aiming to offer other young people with SEND the opportunity to try new experiences, make friends, and have fun.
