A wide range of courses and webinars are available to support parents and carers of children and young people with SEND. Delivered through Family Hubs, Family Learning and online platforms, these sessions offer practical advice, guidance and the opportunity to build confidence in supporting your child at home.
🧩 Kent PACT
- Starting or moving school: Transition Webinar with IASK – An informative and supportive webinar designed to help families better understand educational transitions for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including the support available during key stages of education. 💻 Online Courses (via LEARN – Togetherness)
All courses can be accessed online via LEARN – Togetherness. Parents will need to create an account using the access code ‘Invicta’.
- Understanding your child with additional needs – A helpful introduction for parents of children who may be neurodivergent, have a disability or face additional challenges.
- Understanding your child’s feelings (taster course) – An introduction to emotional health, wellbeing and behaviour.
- Understanding your child’s mental health and wellbeing – Ideal alongside other courses, focusing on supporting children’s mental health.
- Understanding your deaf child for hearing parents – Supporting hearing families to raise confident and resilient deaf children.
- Moving up to secondary school for children with additional needs – Practical guidance to support transitions into secondary school.
🏡 Family Hub Support
- Parenting Support Advice Drop-ins – Available in every district, offering the chance to speak to Family Hub staff about any parenting challenges.
- Understanding your child (Toddler to Teenager) – A face-to-face 10-week course to help parents better understand behaviour and emotions through different stages of childhood.
📚 Family Learning (Kent Adult Education)
Courses can be booked directly through Kent Adult Education, or via your local Family Hub or school.
- Autism Awareness – Understanding autism, building supportive environments and recognising strengths.
- Supporting ADHD in the home – Strategies for managing behaviour and celebrating positive traits.
- Supporting families with ADHD teens – Focus on adolescence, emotional regulation and boundaries.
- Supporting your child’s anxiety – Practical ways to understand and manage anxiety.
- Supporting your teenager’s mental health workshop – Tools and shared learning to support teenagers experiencing mental health challenges.
🌐 Additional Online Support
Families can also access support through Autism Central, an NHS England-funded programme offering a wide range of free online sessions and peer support for families and carers of autistic children.
