Firstly they made marks with wax candles onto cloth, then painted ice cubes placed onto the cloth with inks. We added salt to help the ice to melt. While this was happening the children painted their chosen background paper with a solution of Epsom salts and water. They were all in awe of the ice melting and the salts drying as crystals. We are looking forward to unravelling the cloth and revealing the patterns next time.
