Celebrating Success and Looking Ahead to 2026 -2027

We are immensely proud of all our children and the incredible hard work, resilience, and enthusiasm they demonstrate every single day. Our strong, whole-school approach to learning—where pupils continually build upon what they have previously learned—has seen continued improvements in overall attainment across all year groups.

Our recent Year 6 SATs results reflect the teaching and learning:

• Reading: 80.76% of pupils met the expected standard (exceeding the national average of 75%), with 32.6% achieving Greater Depth.
• Writing: 81% met the expected standard (above the national average of 73%), with 21% working at Greater Depth.
• Maths: 75% met the expected standard, in line with national expectations (75%) and 21% working at Greater Depth.

These achievements reflect the dedicated efforts of our pupils, staff and the supportive parent community all working together.

Building on Our Success: Next Steps for TPF Schools

Last year, our primary School Improvement Plan (SIP) focused on developing comprehension skills in Reading. This year, we are taking those strong foundations, building on them and developing them further into all subjects.

This is how we are continuing to improve teaching and learning through our School Development Plan focussing on:

Enriching Reading & Strengthening Writing

Reading remains at the heart of our curriculum because we believe that confident readers become confident writers; children develop writing styles and include ever-widening vocabulary.

• Whole-School Comprehension and Genre Challenge: We are continuing our whole-school focus on reading comprehension strategies alongside our Junior Genre Challenge. By encouraging children to explore wider reading materials—from adventure, mystery, and historical fiction to poetry, biographies and non-fiction—all children will encounter rich vocabulary and varied sentence structures.
• Translating Reading into Writing: When children read a wide range of genres, they naturally absorb new ideas and styles, directly enhancing the depth, flair, and creativity of their own writing. We continue to follow the Talk for Writing structure in English; promoting and understanding of high-quality texts and using toolkits to successfully write different genres.

 

Sharpening English Skills: Spelling, Handwriting and Sentence Construction

To help children communicate their ideas effectively, we are focusing on key foundational writing skills:

• Independent Spelling: We are empowering pupils to accurately and independently use spelling strategies in their everyday writing, encouraging them to apply phonics rules, root words, and spelling patterns. The Infant School continue to follow Little Wandle Phonic Scheme into spelling rules. The Junior School is to follow Spelling Shed to ensure no rule or word is missed!
• Handwriting and Sentence Structure: We will focus on developing a fluid, legible handwriting style alongside explicit teaching of sentence construction—helping children craft precise, grammatically sound and expressive sentences.

 

            Deepening Mathematical Understanding: Maths Mastery and Fractions

In Mathematics, we are building confidence through a Maths Mastery approach, where concepts are taught in-depth so that every child develops a secure understanding:

• Applying Multiplication Facts to Fractions: A core focus this year is ensuring children fluently recall their times tables and actively apply them to solve complex fraction problems (for example, using multiplication facts to find common denominators or calculate fractions of amounts).
