Outdoor Learning and Design and Technology

The development of a dedicated Outdoor Learning area will provide a space for rewarding, exciting and creative activities, with wellbeing at their core. This, combined with our Design and Technology curriculum, will provide opportunities
to learn through practical application, problem solving and teamwork.
Design and Technology is woven throughout this day, as well as physical education,
orienteering and a ‘Forest school’ approach.
Practical application of Design and Technology skills are carefully planned to enable progression from Year 3 to 6. Projects have included the enhancement of the school site through the creation of flower beds, planters and bird boxes, and partnerships with the local Repair Shed to repair and recycle toys.
The children have ownership of the planning, building and review stages of their projects, with time to reflect upon their experiences and further hone their practical skills.
