Starting Reception

Help your child feel ready for school by:

  • Encouraging independence (putting on coats, using the toilet and tidying up).
  • Talking positively about school and what to expect.
  • Reading together - even a few minutes a day helps.
  • Practising routines such as getting dressed and having breakfast.
  • Limiting screen time to help children develop focus, confidence and social skills through play and everyday experiences.
