School Lunches

As we know, from research undertaken by the School Food Trust, eating a healthy school meal can positively affect children’s behaviour and learning in the classroom.  As you will be aware there is increasing concern about rising rates of obesity and related health problems in children. As a school, it is part of our responsibility to help children learn how to eat healthily and we are pleased to be a partner of the Kent’s Community Health Food Champion Programme which supports us with our healthy eating initiatives.

Lunch represents approximately a third of a child’s daily food intake and therefore it is important that healthy foods are included to provide children with enough energy, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals, which all help them to learn.  We are committed to ensuring that our pupils have a healthy, delicious and nutritious school lunch and would appreciate your support with this if your child/children has packed lunch and a break time snack.  ‘What can be included in packed lunches?’ is found here.

Thank you to our pupils, parents/carers and staff for their ongoing support in achieving our healthy eating initiatives.
