Welcome to the Tenterden Infant School Maths Page

Maths at Tenterden Infant School is designed to provide our children with the strong foundations necessary for their future learning, while enjoying and exploring the wonders of mathematics! With that in mind, we take a small steps approach to the teaching and learning of maths that can be adapted to meet the needs of all.

Children learn by using a variety of manipulatives to explore different mathematical concepts and the opportunities for Maths Talk enable them to make links and deepen their understanding. We follow the White Rose Maths planning which provides problem-solving and reasoning activities to challenge and inspire, whilst ensuring that the children are  introduced to the correct mathematical vocabulary from an early age.

In Years One and Two the children have Maths Passports which encourage them to practise their maths fluency. The children work independently or with a partner to progress at their own pace and master these essential skills.

In KS1 Mathletics, a computer programme, provides the children with an interactive platform to deepen and embed their learning at school and at home through games and challenges.
